GUESTBOOK

    20 July 2013

We stayed for a week in the modern, clean and well equipped top floor two bedroom apartment on a self-catering basis. Jane, David and Peluche (the dog) immediately made us feel at home. Throughout the holiday we enjoyed their company and made great use of their hospitality and local knowledge. Jane and David were quick to provide everything we needed including a lift into Aosta one evening and a BBQ set and table etc on the lawn. The view from the apartment across the valley is stunning and the hustle and bustle of life going on below provides plenty of interest. Aosta town is a great place to wander around but the main attraction for us was the mountains. We used the ski lifts at Pila and La Thuile to get up above the heat (it was over 30C in the valley) and into the Alpine meadows (plenty of Marmots) where the views of the snow capped peaks and glaciers just got better. The Cogne valley in the National Park is a 30 min drive and offers easy walking with rivers and waterfalls. Pila is a well recognised downhill mountain bike centre that attracts serious riders from all over Europe. La Thuille looked to offer more biking options for those (like us) without the expertise and nerve to take on the downhill courses of Pila. Overall we had a wonderful time and found this part of Italy great value and the holiday exceeded our expectations in every way

We had a wonderful walking holiday and David and Jane completely spoilt us. Pros: The apartment has all the appliances you need for a self catering holiday however we chose the catered option and David's and Jane's home cooking was excellent.
The apartment has a stylish interior, clean, comfortable and is in a peaceful setting, conveniently located for all amenities. There are great views from the property and there are numerous walks to suit all abilities and the paths are all well sign posted. Aosta/Pila and the valley was a very pleasing surprise to us as it was the first time we had visited this side of the Alps.
Cons: We had to leave and come home! We can't wait for our next holiday with David & Jane. Thank you.
